I've recently been asked a few times about where one begins a medical F2M transition in Australia.
This is my recommendation of direction and how to start;
Testosterone; there 3 main regulated transition types under medicare attained with a script (from any chemist) that is prescribed by an endocrinologist. A psychiatrist referral is needed for this, which you can attain from your General Practitioner. A good psychiatrist will discuss how many sessions you'll need with them prior to commencing hormone therapy (if this is the desired outcome).
I recommend Dr Jon Hayes; endocrinologist (St Leonards NSW) and Dr Toohey (Sydney city based) as the psychiatrist - both are very trans specialised and quick to act in assisting a medical transition.
Testosterone can be administered by GP nurses or by oneself if confident enough
1. Sustanon 250mg in the glute muscle (given every week to start then every two weeks for a year or two before moving onto the 3 monthly reandron - below)
medicines/hormonal-and- metabolic-system/sex-hormones- and-other-reproductive-system- medicines/testosterone- isocaproate-testosterone- phenylpropionate-testosterone- propionate-testosterone- decanoate/sustanon-250- solution-for-injection
medicines/hormonal-and- metabolic-system/sex-hormones- and-other-reproductive-system- medicines/testosterone- enanthate/primoteston-depot- solution-for-injection
3. Reandron 1000mg
Generally taken after a year or two on one of the above b/c its a big dose for the body (only on the medicare PBS (otherwise approx. $350 per jab) when you've assigned your gender as M with medicare which can happens when you register 2 affirmation procedures with Births Deaths & Marriages NSW (stat dec documents are required); generally testosterone and chest surgery. However if further surgery is desired / required delaying a gender marker change should be considered for medicare acceptance purposes.
In Australia the doctors I would recommend (covered under medicare and cost is helped further with private health insurance)
Dr Megan Hassell - Sydney
Dr Steve Merten - Sydney
Dr Hugh Bartholomeusz - Brisbane
Dr Andy Ives - Melbourne
In the USA (if that's the preference with the associated flight / out of health system costs) I recommend the following in no particular order;
Dr Curtis Crane based in San Francisco
Dr Daniel Medalie based in Cleveland
Dr Charles Garramone based in Florida
All the above doctors have their own websites with pics and testimonials, worth googling.
